Common Support Tips

The current LANCOM Advanced VPN Client for Macintosh Version 2.05 (Build 14711) is not compatible with the operating system macOS Sierra.

LANCOM Systems will provide a compatible version soon.

On PCs running the Windows 10 operating system with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607) installed, re-installing the LANCOM Advanced VPN Client fails if the Secure Boot function is enabled in the BIOS of the PC.

Updating Windows 10 with the Anniversary Update has no effect on the function of a VPN client that was already installed.

The reason that re-installation fails is that Windows in the combination mentioned above now absolutely requires a driver to have a Microsoft SHA-256 signature. Previously, it was sufficient for a driver to be signed by the manufacturer with SHA-1.

For Windows 10 systems with the Anniversary Update installed, a new version of the LANCOM Advanced VPN Client with an appropriate driver signature is available. However, this version may only be installed on Windows 10 systems (irrespective of Secure Boot).

This version of the LANCOM Advanced VPN Client is identical to the current version 3.10 and fixes no errors that may occur after installing the VPN client.

Please contact the LANCOM Support. The support staff will let you know, where you can download the installation files.

For performance reasons, the internal order of the WLAN modules in the LANCOM OAP-830 is changed after a firmware update to LCOS 9.20RU1 or later.

If you operate one or more LANCOM OAP-830s in a point-to-point scenario we recommend that—before updating the firmware to LCOS 9.20RU1 or higher—you should switch the identification of the point-to-point partners to name-based identification for all of the access points involved.

This Knowledge Base document describes how to proceed.

Before you perform an LCOS update to version 9.20 or higher for the devices LANCOM 1631E, LANCOM 831A and T-Business LAN R800A, you must first upload a converter firmware into the devices.

The converter firmware is uploaded to the device in the same way as the LCOS firmware (e.g. via LANconfig using Firmware management -> Upload new firmware).

You can download the converter firmware from the LANCOM website.
