Using LANconfig to login to a device with activated TACACS+ authentication is only possible with the user named root. Correspondingly, the user "root" must be configured on the TACACS+ server. To login via LANconfig, enter the password as configured for the user "root" on the TACACS+ server.
Important: Once authenticated by TACACS+, "root" is the only user automatically assigned with full supervisor rights, and thus able to edit the configuration without having to change privilege level. When authorization is in use, the TACACS+ server decides whether this is allowed or not.
Important: If authorization is activated for the device as well as authentication, the TACACS+ server must permit the commands "readconfig" and "writeconfig" for the user "root" in order for the user to read the configuration from the device and to upload any changes (Assigning rights under TACACS+).
